Cette fois, la crise semble plus profonde, puisqu’elle touche la foi elle-même. Le modernisme auquel nous nous heurtons n’est pas une hérésie au même titre qu’une autre, mais l’égout collecteur de toutes les hérésies; les persécutions ne viennent pas seulement de l’extérieur, mais de l’intérieur du sanctuaire; le scandale d’un clergé démissionnaire ou dissolu prétend à l’institutionnalisation, les mercenaires qui livrent les brebis au loup sont encouragés et couverts d’honneurs. »
