Le 11 juillet 2018, le 4e Chapitre général de la Fraternité Sacerdotale Saint-Pie X qui se tient jusqu’au 21 juillet au Séminaire Saint-Pie X d’Ecône (Suisse), a élu l’abbé Davide Pagliarani Supérieur général pour 12 ans.
De nationalité italienne, le nouveau Supérieur général est âgé de 47 ans. Il a reçu le sacrement de l’Ordre des mains de Mgr Bernard Fellay, en 1996. Il a exercé son apostolat à Rimini (Italie), puis à Singapour, avant d’être nommé supérieur du district d’Italie. Depuis 2012, il était directeur du Séminaire Notre-Dame Co-rédemptrice de La Reja (Argentine).
Après avoir accepté sa charge, l’élu a prononcé la Profession de foi et le Serment antimoderniste. Chacun des membres présents est allé ensuite lui promettre respect et obéissance, avant le chant du Te Deum en action de grâces.
Les 41 capitulants procéderont demain à l’élection des deux Assistants généraux, pour un même mandat de 12 ans.
