Dans son édition internet du 1er mai, Sasha O’Conner journaliste à The Red Elephants, nous apprend que M. l’abbé Kevin Robinson [à gauche sur la photo ci-contre], prêtre de la FSSPX aux USA, a poursuivi en justice le gouverneur du New Jersey Phil Murphy [à droite sur la photo ci-contre], alléguant que le décret 107, invoqué pour lutter contre la pandémie de coronavirus, porte atteinte à ses droits au titre des 1er et 14ème amendements.

M. l’abbé Robinson, qui dessert la chapelle Saint Antoine de Padoue à North Caldwell, NJ, allègue qu’il n’a pas pu exercer ses fonctions sacerdotales en raison du confinement lié au COVID-19, déclarant dans un courriel à ses paroissiens  » mes droits civils ont été violés en raison de l’ordre inconstitutionnel du gouvernement Murphy de fermer les services religieux dans l’État « .

Dans la requête, expliquant les causes de sa poursuite en justice du gouverneur Phil Murphy, l’abbé Robinson écrit qu’il « a été menacé par les forces de l’ordre locales d’être arrêté et poursuivi au pénal s’il osait offrir une Messe ou tenir tout autre rassemblement public dans son église, qui reste fermée en raison de cette menace« .

L’avocat qui plaide pour l’abbé Robinson, Christopher Ferrara de la  » St. Thomas More Society of Catholic Lawyers « , allègue que le décret du gouverneur a violé, entre autres, le libre exercice de la religion, la liberté d’expression et la liberté de réunion de M. l’Abbé Robinson.

Prions pour que la justice américaine rétablisse les droits des catholiques du New Jersey. En tout cas bravo à M. l’abbé Kevin Robinson qui demande réparation pour lui, pour ses fidèles et pour l’honneur de Notre Seigneur.

En France Civitas a déposé une première requête au Conseil d’Etat pour faire annuler l’article 8 du décret 220-293 du 23 mars 2020 qui « porte gravement atteinte à la liberté fondamentale que constitue la liberté de culte en violation des lois de la République et qui viole le principe d’égalité et de non-discrimination. Il a créé une grave inégalité de traitement en France entre les pratiquants d’une religion qui sont lésés par l’interdiction du culte public et les non-pratiquants d’une religion« .

Au cas où le Conseil d’Etat rejetterait cette première requête,  Civitas en a déposé une seconde aujourd’hui lundi 4 mai contre « la décision verbale du Premier Ministre du 28 avril 2020 d’interdire toute cérémonie religieuse jusqu’au 2 juin« ,  décision qui méconnait gravement la liberté de conscience et du culte en ce qu’elle constitue une interdiction générale et absolue à l’exercice de ces libertés.
