La dernière profanation a provoqué émoi et indignation. La statuette de l’Enfant Jésus de la crèche de Noël du village de Pitelli, en Italie du Nord, a été volée puis retrouvée pendue à un arbre. Les villageois ont remplacé l’Enfant-Jésus dans la crèche. L’évêque, Mgr Giovanni Tassano, considère que cet «acte sacrilège grave est un outrage fait avec préméditation« .
Mais ce n’est pas là un cas isolé. Dans Seveso, village de 23.000 habitants en Lombardie, au nord de l’Italie, une statue de l’Enfant-Jésus dans une crèche de Noël située place Cardinal Confalonieri a été décapitée.
Une autre profanation a frappé la crèche de Noël créée par des enfants de l’ école primaire de Motte Luino, également en Lombardie : l’Enfant-Jésus y a également été décapité. Acte ignoble en soi, mais d’autant plus choquant pour les enfants qui avaient préparé la crèche.
A Dorga en Val Seriana, province de Bergame, c’est la statue de St Joseph qui a été décapitée, tandis que l’enfant Jésus était jeté dans un fossé après qu’on lui ait arraché un doigt.
A Fibbiana, près de Florence, la crèche placée sur la place centrale San Rocco a été détruite.
L’indignation est grande dans toutes ces localités, et le malaise se reflète dans de nombreux journaux.
