« Montrer l’apport des musulmans en Australie », est l’un des objectifs de l’ouverture le 3 mars dernier du premier « musée islamique d’Australie (Islamic Museum of Australia – IMA).
Les Emirats Arabes Unis ont largement contribué au financement de ce projet qui a ouvert ses portes à Melbourne. Mais des subventions publiques australiennes ont également été offertes. 10 millions de dollars auraient été investis dans cette vitrine de l’islam au pays des kangourous.
Un tel investissement est d’autant plus surprenant que les musulmans ne représentent que 2% de la population vivant en Australie.
Alors, faut-il y voir une tentative prosélyte sur sol australien ou une mainmise des Emirats Arabes sur la communauté musulmane locale ?
