À quelques semaines du référendum irlandais du 22 mai qui doit décider si le pays autorisera le « mariage » entre personnes de même sexe, Joe Caslin, « street artiste » en faveur du « oui » a recouvert le mur d’un immeuble de Dublin d’une gigantesque fresque représentant un duo homosexuel.
La fresque a été réalisée durant une nuit sur un bâtiment de South George Street, en plein centre de la capitale irlandaise. Caslin a déclaré aux médias : «Notre pays a beaucoup évolué les 25 dernières années. Nous nous sommes émancipés de l’Église catholique conservatrice. J’ai grandi dans les années 1980, lorsque nous étions encore une nation insulaire. Mais ce n’est plus comme ça désormais ».
L’Irlande, autrefois terre de chrétienté, pourrait être le premier pays à dénaturer le mariage à l’issue d’un référendum.
