Le deuxième sommet israélien des médias chrétiens (Christian Media Summit) s’est tenu à Jérusalem du 14 au 17 octobre 2018. Précisons d’emblée que ce rendez-vous annuel initié en 2017 est directement organisé… par le gouvernement israélien.

Selon les échos fournis par les médias israéliens qui ont couvert ce « sommet », plus de 150 professionnels de médias de plus de 30 pays étaient présents. En grande majorité, ces journalistes sont des protestants évangélistes connus pour leur adhésion au messianisme sioniste.  Tous leurs frais (déplacements, hôtel, repas) étaient couverts par le gouvernement israélien.

Le programme comprenait un discours d’ouverture par le Premier ministre Benjamin Netanyahu, un dîner offert par le maire de Jérusalem, un déjeuner à la résidence du président Reuven Rivlin, une réunion avec des membres de la Knesset suivie d’un dîner sur place, bref le tapis rouge des autorités israéliennes pour les journalistes dévoués au sionisme.

Des discours et des débats sur la situation actuelle et future d’Israël, le conflit israélo-palestinien et le traitement médiatique de l’actualité israélienne ponctuaient les journées. Sans oublier quelques visites touristiques et quelques petits cadeaux.

Le Premier ministre israélien, Benjamin Netanyahu, est intervenu dès le premier soir. Il a remercié les journalistes chrétiens présents pour leur soutien indéfectible à Israël. « Vous n’êtes pas simplement les plus grands ambassadeurs d’Israël dans le monde. Vous êtes les champions de la vérité. », leur a-t-il déclaré. Au cours de la séance de questions-réponses, un journaliste évangéliste a interrogé Netanyahu sur la possibilité de nommer un émissaire du gouvernement israélien pour le monde chrétien. «C’est une excellente idée. Je pense que je vais le faire. », a répondu Netanyahu.

Malgré toutes nos recherches, nous n’avons pas trouvé la liste des participants. Citons tout de même Jerry Johnson, PDG de National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) qui regroupe plus de 1100 médias protestants évangélistes à travers le monde.

Un événement à mettre en parallèle avec le Sommet des leaders internationaux de Jérusalem en marge duquel a été conçu le projet « The Movement – Le Mouvement » dont Steve Bannon, qui se dit « chrétien sioniste », est l’ambassadeur.

Le national-sionisme fait évidemment bon ménage avec le protestantisme évangélique, comme on peut le constater aux Etats-Unis ou au Brésil.
