L’ambassadeur de Grande-Bretagne en Libye a annoncé hier qu’il avait décidé « avec regret » de quitter l’ambassade de Tripoli en raison des affrontements en cours dans la capitale et de l’absence de sécurité. L’ambassade a prévu de suspendre temporairement ses activités à partir de lundi et organisé le départ des ressortissants britanniques.
L’ambassadeur Michael Aron a déclaré qu’il avait décidé de partir rapidement. « C’est à regret que nous avons décidé de quitter la Libye et de suspendre provisoirement les activités de l’ambassade. Nous reviendrons dès que les conditions de sécurité le permettront », a écrit M. Aron sur son compte Twitter. Selon l’ambassadeur, les combats ont gagné le quartier où se trouve l’ambassade.
