Samedi 31 octobre, Vincent Lapierre et la cameraman d’ERTV couvrent la manifestation intitulée « Marche pour la dignité » contre les violences policières et le racisme… Une manifestation organisée par le P.I.R., le Parti des Indigènes de la République, de Houria Bouteldja, en hommage aux deux jeunes (Zyed et Bouna) morts il y a dix ans. Des militants EELV, NPA, Front de Gauche, des membres de la CNT et de la CGT sont présents.
Vincent Lapierre était en train de réaliser ses interviews habituelles de manifestants quand soudain, au milieu du boulevard Beaumarchais, sa cameraman est attaquée par derrière : un homme lui vole sa caméra. Vincent la récupère aussitôt, mais il est rapidement plaqué au sol par plusieurs individus. Une clé au bras lui fait lâcher l’appareil, qui disparaît avec les fuyards. La manifestation se termine place de la Bastille, avec les discours empreints d’humanisme et de défense des faibles de Saïd Bouamama, le cofondateur du P.I.R., et d’Omar Salouti, du NPA. Encore une fois, la preuve par l’absurde est donnée que ces partis et associations n’appliquent pas leurs valeurs affichées et que leur véritable fonction est autre : confisquer les colères – et la parole – pour les neutraliser, avec la bienveillance du Système.
