L’État islamique a lancé aujourd’hui une attaque contre la ville de Samarra dans le nord de l’Irak. Ce matin, deux voitures piégées ont explosées dans le nord de Samarra tandis qu’une troisième voiture piégée explosait au sud. L’une des voitures a explosé dans un poste de contrôle militaire chiite. Huit personnes ont perdu la vie, quinze ont été blessées.
A l’ouest de Samarra, ce sont des des roquettes, des tirs de mortiers et des tirs de snipers qui ont été signalés. Les témoins parlent de fortes explosions et des nuages de fumée noire qui couvrent des parties de la ville.
Des milliers de combattants des milices chiites Hashid Shaabi étaient rassemblés à Samarra en vue de lancer une attaque vers le nord pour libérer Tikrit de l’Etat Islamique.
Samarra est à environ une centaine de kilomètres au nord de la capitale irakienne Bagdad. Une série d’attaques dans et autour de Bagdad ont fait hier huit morts.
