Bien entendu, le Mexique est le premier pourvoyeur d’immigrés légaux (et illégaux) aux Etats-Unis, mais quand on regarde la provenance par pays en éliminant l’immigration mexicaine (on parle ici d’immigration légale, selon le Département de Sécurité Intérieure), on voit que l’Asie et la Corne Africaine sont particulièrement présentes :
– L’Inde est en tête de ce classement particulier dans 19 états : Washington, Arizona, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, Mississippi, Alabama, Géorgie, les deux Caroline, Virginie, Maryland, Pennsylvanie, Ohio, Delaware, New Jersey, Connecticut.
– Les Philippines le sont dans 7 états : Alaska, Hawaii, Californie, Nevada, Nouveau-Mexique, Wyoming, Virginie occidentale.
– Le Myanmar l’est dans 5 états : Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Indiana.
– La Chine l’est dans 4 états : Oregon, Utah, Louisiane et New York.
– L’Irak l’est dans 3 états : Idaho, Tennessee et Michigan.
– Le Bhoutan l’est également : Dakota du nord, New Hampshire et Vermont.
– L’Ethiopie l’est dans 2 états : le Colorado et le Dakota du sud.
– la Somalie l’est aussi dans 2 états : le Minnesota (l’actualité récente l’a prouvé) et le Maine.
– Cuba également : la Floride et le Kentucky.
– Même chose pour la République Dominicaine : Rhode Island et Massachusetts.
– Le Canada arrive en tête dans le Montana.
