Canada – Les fusillades de ce mercredi à Ottawa surviennent dans un contexte particulier qui met le pays en ébullition. En effet, lundi, au Québéc, l’adjudant Patrice Vincent, un militaire canadien, a été assassiné par Martin « Ahmad » Couture-Rouleau, un jeune canadien de 25 ans converti à l’islam, qui avait ensuite été abattu par la police.
Cet assassinat d’un militaire canadien a été qualifié d’acte terroriste par le gouvernement canadien. Son auteur figurait parmi la liste des 90 Canadiens présents sur le sol national soupçonnés par les autorités de vouloir fomenter des attentats.
Martin « Ahmad » Rouleau-Couture avait convaincu plusieurs de ses amis de se convertir à l’islam et faisait sur les réseaux sociaux l’apologie du djihadisme. Il avait été arrêté en juillet par les autorités alors qu’il était sur le point de partir en Turquie dans l’intention de rejoindre les djihadistes de l’Etat Islamique.
