Selon le journal The Guardian, les autorités britanniques ont décidé de lutté contre l’immigration en récompensant par des primes les fonctionnaires qui obtiennent des rejets de recours de demandeurs d’asile.
Les fonctionnaires seraient encouragés à obtenir le rejet d’au moins 70 % des appels interjetés par les demandeurs d’asile qui contestent leur renvoi. Les fonctionnaires qui dépassent cette barre reçoivent une récompense. Des chèques cadeaux dans des magasins, de l’argent liquide ou encore des jours de congé supplémentaires.
Il s’agit, selon le ministère de l’Intérieur britannique, de reconnaître les résultats positifs d’un fonctionnaire sur une période donnée.
En Grande-Bretagne comme partout en Europe, freiner l’immigration est un enjeu politique important. Le Premier ministre David Cameron, à l’approche d’enjeux électoraux, a choisi de mener une campagne en vue de restreindre les aides sociales accordées aux immigrés.
