La National Black Church Initiative (NBCI), une coalition de 34 000 « églises noires » de 15 dénominations protestantes évangéliques et représentant près de 16 millions de personnes de race noire a coupé tous les liens avec l’Église presbytérienne américaine après que celle-ci ait voté en faveur de l’acceptation du «mariage» entre homosexuels. La NBCI a également lancé un appel aux presbytériens pour qu’ils se convertissent et fassent marche arrière sur une décision relevant de l’anathème dont parle saint Paul aux Galates.
Anthony Evans, pasteur, explique que cette décision vise à exhorter « les frères et sœurs de la PCUSA (Presbyterian Church of USA) à se repentir et à rétablir la communion ». Il ajoute que «la NCBI et ses membres se basent simplement sur la parole de Dieu et l’esprit du Christ ».
« Aucune église n’a le droit de changer la Parole de Dieu», a déclaré Evans. « En votant la redéfinition du mariage, le PCUSA perd automatiquement la grâce salvifique du Christ. »
La NBCI prie le reste de la chrétienté à faire de même et à rompre les relations avec ceux qui «ont changé la Parole de Dieu. »
