Les djihadistes de l’État islamique en Irak et au Levant (EIIL) ont pris ce mardi le contrôle total de la ville syrienne clé de Boukamal à la frontière avec l’Irak, après une bataille féroce de trois jours avec les combattants rebelles, rapporte une ONG. Un porte-parole des rebelles, qui combattent à la fois l’EIIL et l’armée syrienne, a indiqué que les djihadistes avaient pris la ville après avoir reçu des renforts de l’Irak voisin où l’EIIL contrôle de nombreuses régions tombées au cours de leur offensive fulgurante débutée le 9 juin. Cette prise survient deux jours après la proclamation par l’EIIL d’un califat à cheval sur la Syrie et l’Irak, appelant les musulmans du monde entier à obéir à son chef Abou Bakr al-Baghdadi.
