Les Catholiques du Bangladesh appellent les autorités à assurer la sécurité des croyants au cours des célébrations de la fête de Noël. L’appel a été lancé par Nirmal Rozario, secrétaire général de l’Association chrétienne du Bangladesh lors d’une conférence de presse le 18 décembre.

Nirmal Rozario a averti que le pays se trouve dans un contexte de violences antichrétiennes. Notamment en raison de l’influence de groupes islamiques qui menacent la sécurité des minorités chrétiennes et hindoues.

Les citadins catholiques craignent de retourner dans leur village d’origine pour célébrer Noël avec leur famille.

Nirmal Rozario a demandé une protection des lieux de culte catholiques, indiquant : « Nous vivons dans la peur et nous voulons que la police protège nos églises de tout risque d’attaque ».
