Espagne – Dimanche, Mgr Juan Antonio Reig Pla, évêque d’Alcalá, a dénoncé dans son prêche dominical la dégradation et la destruction de statues de héros et de saints catholiques à la suite de l’actuelle agitation «Black Lives Matter» aux États-Unis.
L’évêque a déclaré que ces attaques contre les symboles chrétiens marquent «le retour des barbares» et une grande perte pour tous parce que seuls Jésus-Christ et l’Église catholique, qui est sa continuation, peuvent donner aux hommes la vérité qu’ils doivent suivre pour être vraiment libres.
Mgr Reig Pla a parlé en particulier d’Isabella la Catholique, la Reine d’Espagne qui a chargé Christophe Colomb de naviguer vers «l’Inde», en allant vers l’Ouest, et saint Junipero Serra, missionnaire espagnol en Californie.
L’évêque espagnol a souligné que la crise actuelle est avant tout une «crise de l’intelligence» et une «éclipse de vérité» par lesquelles l’homme ne cherche plus ce qui est vrai et ne réalise plus sa vocation à la transcendance. Le prélat espagnol a déclaré que notre temps n’est pas seulement celui du «relativisme moral» mais du «nihilisme».
Mgr Reig Pla a aussi insisté sur le fait que nous ne devons pas avoir peur de ceux qui ne peuvent que nuire au corps, car nous devons avoir le même destin que Jésus-Christ, qui a été persécuté et tué après un procès inique mais qui a vaincu la mort; avec Lui, la victoire est certaine.
