Depuis 1980, Paris accueille chaque année des allumages publics de chandeliers géants pour la fête religieuse juive de Hanouka.
En décembre 2014, Anne Hidalgo, maire de Paris, et l’ambassadeur d’Israël en France avaient participé à l’allumage d’un chandelier géant sur le Champ de Mars.
Bizarrement, les Fédérations de la Libre Pensée, les loges maçonniques et autres ayatollahs de la laïcité n’y ont jamais trouvé rien à redire, contrairement à la présence de crèches de Noël sur l’espace public qui génère chaque année de nouvelles crispations.
Cependant, cette année, la fête de Hanouka sera perturbée, non pas au nom de la laïcité ou de la « neutralité religieuse » mais en raison de l’état d’urgence et de la crainte d’attentats. Des annulations sont d’ores et déjà annoncées. C’est notamment le cas des allumages de chandeliers géants prévus place de la République et place de la Bastille. Mais le rabbin Haim Nisenbaum a affirmé que des allumages auront bien lieu.
