A l’enseignement de la littérature, base des humanités, les réformes des dernières décennies, toutes inspirées des délires de la secte pédagogiste, ont substitué une technologie d’analyse des textes littéraires, pour reprendre leur formule. S’il y a des textes, c’est qu’il n’y a plus de livres. L’approche pédagogiste de la littérature, par laquelle l’élève, plutôt que de lire, est sommé de classer, d’étiqueter, de trier, de s’orienter dans un document comme un rat dans un labyrinthe, participe à une destruction de l’Ecole. Robert Redeker fustige tout au long de cet essai le pédagogisme assassin et la fin des instituteurs au profit d’une soi-disant école du vivre-ensemble.
C’est parce qu’on ne sait plus ce que c’est qu’un homme, ce que c’est que la vie humaine, ni non plus ce que c’est que la mort humaine, qu’on ne sait plus ce que c’est que l’Ecole, ce que c’est que l’éducation, souligne l’auteur de ce livre.
