Un immense panache de fumée blanche s’échappe du volcan Bardarbunga en Islande qui est sous surveillance depuis une semaine. Un fossé de 25 kilomètres de long et de cinq à dix kilomètres de profondeur s’étend sous la croûte terrestre du glacier du Dyngjujökull.
En 2010, l’éruption du volcan Eyjafjallajokull, en Islande également, avait entraîné la fermeture pendant six jours d’une grande partie de l’espace aérien européen en raison d’un immense nuage de cendres rabattu sur l’Europe, qui avait obscurcit le ciel. Pour le moment aucun nuage de cendres n’a encore été détecté pour le Bardarbunga.
