La Légion de Marie sera reconnue comme “association internationale de fidèles” selon le décret émis ce jeudi 27 par le secrétariat du Conseil Pontifical pour les laïques, Mgr Josef Clemens.
Mgr Clemens a dit dans son message que la « Légion de Marie » est le signe de l’esprit missionnaire des laïcs, elle marche avec une compréhension profonde de l’appel à la sainteté reçu au baptême ».
« Toute l’histoire de la Légion de Marie est un merveilleux témoignage de la foi dans la toute-puissance de Dieu, la foi en la puissance de la prière à Marie », a-t-il ajouté. Pour le prélat, depuis sa création, la Légion de Marie «est un témoignage vivant de la façon dont Dieu peut travailler à travers des cœurs humbles. »
Créé à l’initiative d’un groupe dirigé par l’ancien responsable du ministère des Finances, Frank Duff, en 1921, à Dublin (Irlande), la Légion de Marie a plus de 93 ans d’histoire missionnaire dans le monde, « apportant Marie dans le monde et, par elle, Jésus », souligne Mgr Clemens. L’institution, destinée à la formation de milliers de groupes sur tous les continents, offre à ses membres la sanctification , ainsi que la participation à la mission évangélisatrice de l’Eglise à travers l’apostolat social avec les nécessiteux et ceux qui sont loin de la foi.
