« Le risque de suicide et de comportements dangereux pour la vie est plus élevé parmi les adolescents appartenant à des minorités sexuelles » est la triste conclusion d’une étude menée par l’Université de Milan-Bicocca, et publiée récemment sur la revue internationale Jama Pediatrics.
Les auteurs ont calculé « que les adolescents appartenant au groupe global des minorités sexuelles montrent un taux de risque suicide trois fois supérieur par rapport à leur camarades hétérosexuels. L’évaluation du risque de tentative de suicide a été analysée aussi à l’intérieur de chaque groupe de minorités sexuelles : les chiffres démontrent que les adolescents transgenres semblent les plus affectés par ce phénomène, suivis par les bisexuels et des homosexuels. »
Le suicide est la seconde cause de mortalité parmi les jeunes au niveau mondial, rappellent les experts. Bien que cette tendance avait déjà été démontrée dans d’autres études « pour la première fois a été accomplie une évaluation plus précise de la nature du phénomène chez les adolescents Lgbt ».
