Professeur de lettres classiques, Gérard Bedel a enseigné la littérature latine et la littérature grecque à l’Université et collabore à plusieurs revues littéraires et historiques.
Il est l’auteur d’une biographie du cardinal Pie (Le cardinal Pie, un défenseur des droits de Dieu, Clovis, 2015), d’une biographie du général de Sonis (Le général de Sonis, Via Romana, 2012) et d’une biographie du Maréchal Pétain (Pétain, Pardès).
Gérard Bedel a écrit également plusieurs livres sur la langue latine et son enseignement. Signalons particulièrement : Le latin par la messe, un itinéraire linguistique et religieux (éditions de Paris).
Il a accepté de rejoindre le comité de parrainage de l’hommage à sainte Jeanne d’Arc organisé par Civitas le dimanche 13 mai 2018.
