Le primat du Pérou, Mgr Carlos Castillo Mattasoglio, a affirmé qu’être soldat du Christ est une image «obsolète».
« Cette façon de comprendre l’Église, en tant que croisade, se traduit par cette image qui est obsolète, de soldats du Christ », a osé déclarer le scandaleux prélat proche de la théologie de la libération et de l’actuel occupant du trône pontifical.
Le prélat a également déclaré que «nous sommes tous appelés à accueillir ce christianisme sentinelle, comme la sentinelle de l’aube. Pas un christianisme de soldats du Christ ! »
Mgr Castillo a ensuite récité les paroles d’une chanson qui l’a marqué quand il était enfant : «Je me souviens, comme je suis dans mon école, ici nous avons chanté avec de petits enfants, j’étais un missionnaire, le chant de la Croisade Eucharistique : Nous sommes des croisés fidèles du Christ / Le Christ Roi, nous devons servir / Devant l’hôte tout prosterné / Combattre nous jurons à mort / Bénis tes croisés / Jésus roi céleste / Guerre contre Satan, déteste le péché / Vive Jésus notre général ! Je m’en souviens encore. »
