Inde – Zakir Naik, 52 ans, est un prédicateur musulman de tendance salafiste né à Bombay. Il dispose de sa propre chaîne de télévision, Peace TV, avec une audience estimée à plus de cent millions de personnes. La diffusion de ses émissions a cependant été interdite ou restreinte en Inde, au Bangladesh, au Royaume-Uni, aux États-Unis et au Canada en raison du contenu de ses prêches.
Certaines de ses interventions publiques ont fait le buzz, comme celle publiée le 20 décembre 2010, dans laquelle il avait déclaré que fêter Noël est un péché pour un musulman.
Zakir Naik a élu domicile en Malaisie il y a cinq ans quand il a découvert que les autorités indiennes enquêtaient sur lui dans le cadre de la lutte contre le terrorisme islamique.
Mais cette semaine, les autorités indiennes ont demandé son extradition. Il est en effet accusé d’avoir encouragé les musulmans indiens à s’enrôler dans l’État islamique. Plusieurs djihadistes indiens ont suivi à la lettre ses recommandations.
