Sous l’oeil du psychanalyste et écrivain Ali Magoudi, c’est un portrait au plus près de celui qui n’avait pas encore le vent en poupe, réalisé dans les années 80. Il y livre sa vision du monde, son rapport à la famille, à la mort, sur la question des immigrés, des juifs, ou encore sa définition de la torture. Un document exceptionnel et inédit, jamais diffusé à l’époque. Un documentaire réalisé par Pierre Jouve et Ali Magoudi. Une production Sygma télévision. Selon le site Public-Sénat

Ce documentaire de 1988 est, bien entendu, tendancieux, mais il montre rétrospectivement le chemin parcouru par le FN et plein d’aspects fort intéressants de son président qui ont été oubliés, notamment ses références constantes à la foi. Ce qui manque certainement le plus à MLP, qui ne semble rien avoir retenu.

Débat  autour du film de 1988 avec son co-réalisateur, Pierre Jouve, qui qualifie JMLP d’ « homme libre » et « raffiné« . Ce film n’a jamais été diffusé, car selon son auteur, le portrait était encore trop favorable à l’homme qu’il fallait à tout prix salir. Ce film, bien que tendancieux, ne le salissait pas suffisamment pour être acceptable. En voulant le caricaturer, les co-réalisateurs de la vidéo n’ont fait qu’illustrer un homme libre qui regarde la vérité en face. Alors que les états vendeurs d’armes et promoteurs de l’Etat islamique, -la plus grande entreprise criminelle imaginable-, donnent des leçons d’humanité, JMLP détonne. 

Le débat n’a pas le côté détestable de parti-pris absolu qui est réservé habituellement à la personnalité de Jean-Marie Le Pen ce qui le rend particulier et intéressant. Le débat met en exergue la « culture raffinée » et le discours d’un tribun, face au discours banal et aseptisé de sa fille, selon les invités. En voulant le caricaturer, les co-réalisateurs de la vidéo n’ont fait qu’illustrer un homme libre qui regarde la vérité en face, dans un monde d’hypocrisie. Bruno Gollnisch rétablit quelques vérités pratiquement inconnues concernant JMLP, notamment sur sa légendaire fortune.
