Le masque sera obligatoire pour tous les élèves à partir de 11 ans à la rentrée des classes, mais, contrairement à une première rumeur, il ne sera pas fourni gratuitement par l’État. C’est ce qui a été décidé lors du conseil de défense sanitaire de ce mardi et devrait être officialisé lors du conseil des Ministres de demain à l’Élysée.
De nombreux médecins ont rappelé ces jours-ci que cette obligation du masque n’avait aucun sens et que, bien au contraire, ce masque est un véritable nid de bactéries. Mais il sera, en plus, une dépense supplémentaire à charge des parents.
Jean-Michel Blanquer a néanmoins affirmé que des masques gratuits pourront tout de même être fournis au cas par cas aux familles «en grande difficulté».
De leur côté, plusieurs régions et départements ont décidé de se substituer à l’État pour fournir sans frais des masques à leurs élèves et étudiants. Le président de la région Hauts-de-France, Xavier Bertrand, a ainsi promis lundi sur Twitter qu’un masque gratuit en tissu réutilisable serait remis à chaque lycéen et apprenti «afin de permettre une rentrée dans les meilleures conditions sanitaires». De même pour Valérie Pécresse, la présidente de la région d’Ile-de-France, qui a annoncé ce mardi la distribution de deux masques lavables en tissu à chaque lycéen francilien et à chaque professeur durant la première semaine de la rentrée scolaire. Des mesures similaires ont été annoncées en Occitanie.
