Il circule actuellement une pétition intitulée « Le manifeste des médecins ». Il a pour but de faire un contre-feu aux 120 médecins qui ont déclaré avoir pratiqué des PMA hors de la loi. Nous présentons le texte de cette pétition qui a déjà été signé par 300 ou 400 praticiens de toutes spécialités (la liste est trop longue à compter).Il rappelle que le rôle premier du médecin est de ne pas nuire.
1) La Médecine est avant tout un art au service des malades. Les deux principaux buts de la Médecine sont prévenir les maladies et soigner les malades.
2) La première devise du médecin est : « Primum non nocere », « Premièrement, ne pas nuire ».
3) Il n’appartient pas au médecin de juger de la vie. Même s’il doit accompagner les couples stériles en désir d’enfant, le médecin n’a pas tous les droits pour faire surgir la vie.
4) Le médecin ne doit pas être au service d’une idéologie quelle qu’elle soit. La sélection des races, l’eugénisme, le dopage, les expériences sur l’homme, la « fabrication » d’enfants en dehors de la complémentarité homme-femme sont étrangers aux buts de la Médecine.
5) Il revient au Conseil de l’Ordre des Médecins, expression de notre profession, de faire respecter les règles de la déontologie médicale.
6) Le médecin est soumis à la loi en tant que citoyen. L’État quant à lui ne doit pas sortir de son rôle en demandant au médecin d’accomplir des actes techniques contraires à l’éthique médicale.
Il n’y a pas de quoi fouetter un chat. Bien évidemment la phrase qui est visée est celle qui mentionne qu’un enfant a besoin d’un père et d’une mère.
