Le chevalier Henri-Roger Gougenot des Mousseaux (1805-1876) est un journaliste et écrivain catholique qui s’est notamment employé à dénoncer le rôle des forces occultes.
Le R.P. Voisin, directeur du Séminaire des missions étrangères à Paris, considérait ce livre digne de l’étude non seulement des catholiques, mais de tous les hommes de bonne foi.
Cet ouvrage commence par examiner la morale en action du judaïsme à travers ses mœurs et ses traditions. L’étude du pharisien ancien, père du pharisien moderne, se révèle indispensable pour comprendre l’époque actuelle. Henri-Roger Gougenot des Mousseaux nous en apprend beaucoup sur les rabbins, le grand sanhédrin, les consistoires, le Talmud et la morale talmudique. L’assassinat talmudique fait l’objet d’un chapitre à part entière. L’auteur décrit également comment cette morale talmudique justifie l’usure, analyse la place de la femme dans le judaïsme. Il dépeint aussi les particularités observées chez les réformistes juifs ainsi que chez le Juif libre penseur.
Un chapitre appendice mérite grande attention. Il est consacré aux diverses formes de cabales ainsi qu’au spiritisme cabaliste.
