Pour tenter d’inciter les électeurs à se rendre aux urnes pour les élections européennes du 26 mai 2019, le gouvernement français diffuse sur YouTube un clip vidéo. A un rythme accéléré se succèdent des interpellations : « Immigration : maîtriser ou subir ? Climat : agir ou ignorer ? Emploi : partenaires ou concurrents ? Europe : union ou division ? ». Puis s’inscrit le message final : « En mai 2019, l’Europe changera. A vous de décider dans quel sens. »
Ce qui retient l’attention de tous les observateurs politiques, c’est que seuls deux hommes politiques apparaissent dans ce clip gouvernemental : l’Italien Matteo Salvini et le Hongrois Viktor Orban.
« Le gouvernement français publie, avec l’argent des contribuables, un clip officiel pour les européennes en m’utilisant comme un épouvantail » , a déjà réagi Matteo Salvini via Twitter. Et de répliquer : « Macron et ses amis doivent avoir très peur. En 2019, ils attendent un printemps des peuples qui va les balayer. »
