C’est fait : le général Pierre de Villiers, chef d’état-major des armées, a annoncé sa démission ce mercredi matin.
Le général avait déjà exprimé son mécontentement devant la commission Défense suite aux restrictions budgétaires qui vont affecter l’armée. Il avait alors menacé de présenter sa démission. Il avait ensuite été tancé par Emmanuel Macron s’estimant seul chef à bord.
Dans un communiqué, le général de Villiers explique qu’il considère « ne plus être en mesure d’assurer la pérennité du modèle d’armée auquel (il) croit pour garantir la protection de la France et des Français, aujourd’hui et demain, et soutenir les ambitions de notre pays » et avoir « pris ses responsabilités » en présentant sa démission au président.
