Le Français, tué au Yémen dans une fusillade dans le quartier diplomatique, était un ancien du 3ème RPIMA où il a servi de 1983 à 2003. Il s’était reconverti dans la sécurité privée. Il était l’un des militaires français les plus décorés mais aussi des plus respectés. Il s’était distingué au cours de très nombreuses missions en Bosnie, au Tchad, au Congo (RDC comme Brazzaville), au Gabon, en Irak, au Kosovo, au Liban ou encore à la Réunion ou Nouvelle-Calédonie. Depuis sa reconversion dans le privé, il a géré des équipes de sécurité dans de nombreux pays sensibles comme à Bangui, au Congo, en Guinée, au Mali, en Centrafrique, au Soudan ou encore, depuis mars 2014, au Yémen où il gérait une équipe de protection rapprochée.
