Finalement, ce sont bien les intermittents du spectacle qui auront gâché le Festival d’Avignon même s’il a quand même eu lieu. Sur 24 jours de festival, 3 journées de grève des intermittents en lutte contre la nouvelle convention chômage ont empêché au total 12 représentations, selon le bilan dressé lors d’une conférence de presse samedi. La météo s’y est mise aussi avec de fortes pluies et 2 spectacles annulés. La perte s’élève au total à 300.000 euros. La fréquentation a tout de même atteint 90% (107.992 places vendues) contre 95% en 2013.
Mais l’édition 2015 s’annonce déjà compliquée financièrement car pour Olivier Py cette lourde perte aura un impact et il a appelé l’État à l’aider, sinon il pourrait être contraint de réduire sa production de spectacles, de raccourcir la prochaine édition ou d’abandonner ses missions sociales (partenariats avec les scolaires notamment). Son festival aura finalement été politisé mais pas de la manière dont il pensait.

Pourquoi Monsieur Olivier Py ne fait-il pas appel au mécénat: Pierre Bergé, Jacques Attali et consorts ne mettent plus la main au porte-feuille (ou au chéquier) pour la bonne cause?
