Le bâton de chocolat Toblerone est halal depuis avril 2018. Son propriétaire, la multinationale agroalimentaire américaine Mondelez International dont la PDG est… Irène Rosenfeld, a fait certifier halal son site de production de Berne-Brünnen, a révélé le «SonntagsBlick». Ce chocolat « suisse » est désormais garanti conforme à la loi islamique.
Les ingrédients et la production ont été adaptés, a expliqué un porte-parole de la société. Cela signifie notamment que tout contact, de près ou de loin, avec le moindre dérivé de porc ou l’alcool est proscrit.
Les installations de production du chocolat Toblerone seront régulièrement inspectées par des imams, qui veillent au respect des règles islamiques.
La décision de Mondelez International est guidée par l’appât du gain. Le marché de l’alimentation halal pèse plusieurs centaines de milliards d’euros par an et une progression de plus de 30% de l’économie islamique mondiale est attendue d’ici à 2021, selon une récente étude de Thomson Reuters.
Plus d’une centaine d’usines de production de produits Nestlé sont également certifiées halal des produits certifiés halal.
