Canada – Selon CBC News, le premier ministre Justin Trudeau a approuvé la fabrication d’une pièce de monnaie d’un dollar pour « la célébration de l’expérience LGBT » et le 50e anniversaire de la décriminalisation de l’homosexualité.
Ce « dollar LGBT » n’a pas encore été présenté. Questionné sur l’illustration LGBT prévue pour être gravée ou l’identité de l’artiste choisi pour réaliser la pièce, le gouvernement Trudeau répond qu’il préfère garder le secret pour « maximiser l’impact » du lancement officiel de la pièce de monnaie en 2019.
Bill Morneau, le douteux ministre des Finances du Canada, fait mousser l’annonce :
« Reste à l’antenne Canada! Je suis incroyablement fier d’avoir approuvé cette nouvelle pièce de monnaie qui commémore le 50e anniversaire de la décriminalisation de l’homosexualité au Canada – une étape importante qui nous rappelle tout le travail qui nous reste à accomplir. »
