L’Assemblée parlementaire du Conseil de l’Europe a adopté hier, mercredi 22 avril, une résolution sur les droits des personnes transgenres à 68 voix contre 23 et 12 abstentions, «la déclaration la plus importante et la plus étendue en soutien aux droits des personnes trans’ jamais faite au niveau européen», selon Richard Köhler, responsable du service politique de Transgender Europe (TGEU).
L’eurodéputé maltais Deborah Schembri est à l’origine de cette résolution visant à inciter les États membres à adapter leurs législations revendications transgenres.
Le mardi 21 avril, l’Assemblée parlementaire du Conseil de l’Europe a auditionné des militants transgenres venus de France, d’Irlande, de Lituanie, de Turquie et d’Ukraine.
La résolution contient notamment une recommandation de donner la possibilité d’avoir un troisième genre pour le changement d’état civil.
Il y est également question de reconnaître la transsexualité comme un élément favorisant l’acceptation de la demande d’asile d’un migrant.
Parmi les eurodéputés français présents lors du vote, deux se sont abstenus, Damien Abad et Bernard Fournier, tandis que Marie-Christine Dalloz, Catherine Quéré, Pierre-Yves Le Borgn, Marietta Karamanli, René Rouquet et Maryvonne Blondin ont voté en faveur de la résolution.
