Au sujet de l’art contemporain, le quotidien belge Le Soir (4 mai 2018) retranscrit ces mots de Luc Ferry :
« Les artistes « bohèmes », à commencer par les héritiers de Duchamp, voulaient casser tous les codes de la bourgeoisie et voilà qu’ils sont aujourd’hui non seulement financés par le marché et les Etats mais qu’ils sont en outre museifiés comme les premiers pompiers venus. Leur rêve est devenu bourgeois, c’est l’académie ou le musée, si possible les deux, avec en outre l’argent du marché ou de l’Etat pour financer le tout car l’artiste est de gauche mais l’acheteur est de droite… Il me semble que c’est ce paradoxe qui est non seulement amusant mais profond. L’art contemporain tourne toujours autour des idées de table rase, de rupture avec la tradition et d’innovation radicale en quoi, sans le savoir, il est la superstructure la plus parfaite du capitalisme schumpeterien qui lui aussi ne vit que d’innovations. Pas étonnant que Jeff Koons ait commencé sa carrière à Wall Street… »
