Ces 400 otages ont été libérés dans le nord–est du pays affirme Sani Usman, le porte parole de l’armée ajoutant de plus que cette attaque a causé la mort de quelques soldats nigerians et de plusieurs insurgés. L’opération qui a eu lieu dans les villages de Chingurimi, walasa et Masa dans l’état de Borno a permis la libération entre autres de 24 enfants 17 femmes et un homme âgé. Dans un autre communiqué, le porte-parole a indiqué que des éléments de Boko Haram ont lancé, mercredi 4 mai 2016, une attaque contre les troupes nigérianes sur l’axe d’Izzi, dans la forêt de Sambisa, un des bastions de Boko Haram. Les combats ont duré une quarantaine de minutes.
Le porte-parole de l’armée nigériane a précisé de plus que « les terroristes sont arrivés sur des véhicules Toyota Hilux équipés de canons antiaériens qu’ils ont utilisés aux côtés de mortiers de 81 mm. Les troupes ont repoussé l’attaque et poursuivi les terroristes qui ont battu en retraite vers l’axe d’Izza-Mainyakare ». Mais cette fois ci l’armée a indiqué que les combats n’ont fait aucune victime dans les rangs de l’armée mais que beaucoup d’éléments de Boko Haram sont morts a-t-il ajouté.
