L’Aquarius 2 vogue en Méditerranée sans pavillon depuis que le Panama et Gibraltar lui ont refusé le leur.
Une chose est certaine : si le bateau humanitariste des Ong SOS Méditerranée et MSF ne trouve pas un nouveau drapeau sous lequel naviguer, il ne pourra pas continuer à opérer comme il l’a fait durant toutes ces années : en chargeant des migrants au large de la Libye pour les amener dans les ports de l’Europe.
Frédéric Penard, directeur des opérations de SOS Méditerranée, dans une conférence de presse a demandé « un acte politique » à l’Union Européenne ou à un État membre mais pour l’instant personne ne semble vouloir prendre en considération son souhait « de trouver une solution au pavillon de l’Aquarius 2 ». Assigner un drapeau à l’Aquarius rendrait en effet le bateau territoire national avec toutes les conséquences dont la gestion des migrants à bord et leur débarquement sur le sol du pays du pavillon.
Mais une possibilité est en train d’émerger. Si l’Ong affirme ne pas avoir contacté directement le Saint-Siège, sur la question de l’attribution d’un pavillon, le Vatican pourrait « techniquement le faire » et la chose serait « bien acceptée » explique Penard. Peut-être pas du côté du peuple mais certes du côté des évêques italiens qui sont convaincus que « la solidarité faite d’accueil et d’intégration » soit « la voie principale pour affronter la complexité du phénomène » migratoire.
Un coup de main de la part du pape François n’est donc pas à exclure. Peut-être qu’un jour nous verrons l’Aquarius 2, collaborateur de l’islamisation de l’Europe, battre le pavillon blanc et jaune du Vatican… Le temps de la victoire de Lépante sera alors définitivement aboli !
