Ce livre part du postulat que pour traiter sainement de la dignité humaine, de son idolâtrie et de son apothéose, il est nécessaire de prendre le temps d’observer le monde dans sa réalité. Après l’observation des faits, on pourra essayer de trouver les causes du phénomène constaté et seulement alors on pourra tenter d’y remédier par une thérapie adaptée.
L’abbé Rioult a donc divisé son ouvrage en trois parties : des faits que tout le monde peut constater, des causes que tout le monde peut comprendre et des remèdes que tout le monde peut suivre.
Pour ce qui est des faits, l’auteur a choisi d’observer l’évolution de l’école, de la famille, des métiers et de la société. Dans ces différents domaines, le constat est alarmant et passe par une identique incapacité à transmettre le patrimoine humain.
La deuxième partie de ce livre cherche les causes de ce phénomène dans ses origines morales, philosophiques, politiques, historiques et psychologiques : l’impiété, la disparition de la recherche du Bien commun, la Révolution propagée dans tous les domaines, la laïcité ou l’humanité sans Dieu, la « Messe bâtarde », la « dissociété », le refus du réel, la mort de l’intelligence…
Enfin, après cet examen minutieux de la folie libérale et de ses utopies destructrices, la troisième partie délivre le remède : l’amour de la vérité, que Dieu offre à chacun, pour pouvoir se sauver.
