L’acteur Jim Caviezel, célèbre pour avoir tenu le rôle de Jésus-Christ dans La Passion du Christ de Mel Gibson, a déclaré que les chrétiens étaient persécutés aux États-Unis en se voyant interdire d’aller à l’église sous prétexte de l’épidémie de coronavirus.
Caviezel s’est entretenu jeudi avec Breitbart News Daily au sujet de son nouveau film Infidel, décrit comme un thriller contemporain au Moyen-Orient mettant en vedette Jim Caviezel dans le rôle d’un Américain kidnappé alors qu’il assistait à une conférence au Caire, qui se retrouve en prison en Iran pour espionnage. Sa femme se rend en Iran, déterminée à le faire sortir.
«Vous montez dans un avion. Vous voyez beaucoup de monde. Ils portent des masques. Ils sont juste l’un à côté de l’autre. Mais le COVID-19, pour une raison quelconque, ne se propage pas. C’est tellement intelligent. Il sait ne pas faire cela », dit-il sarcastiquement.
«Mais quand vous entrez dans une église, le COVID-19 va partout.»
«(…) les médias ne représentent plus beaucoup d’Américains (…) la plupart d’entre nous ne leur faisons plus confiance. »
À la fin de l’entretien, Caviezel a brièvement évoqué la suite à venir de La Passion du Christ . «Mel Gibson vient de m’envoyer la troisième photo. Le troisième projet. Ça arrive. Cela s’appelle La Passion du Christ: La Résurrection », dit-il. «Et ce sera le plus grand film de l’histoire du monde.»
