Le 21 juin 1429, à St Benoit sur Loire, Jehanne dit à Charles : « Sire, me promettez-vous de me donner ce que je vous demanderai ? » Le Roi hésite, puis consent.
« Sire, donnez-moi votre royaume ». Le Roi, stupéfait, hésite de nouveau ; mais, tenu par sa promesse et subjugué par l’ascendant surnaturel de la jeune fille : « Jehanne, lui répondit-il, je vous donne mon royaume ». (1ére donation)
Cela ne suffit pas : la Pucelle exige qu’un acte notarié en soit solennellement dressé et signé par les quatre secrétaires du Roi; après quoi, voyant celui-ci tout interdit et embarrassé de ce qu’il avait fait : « Voici le plus pauvre chevalier de France : il n’a plus rien ».
Puis aussitôt après, très grave et s’adressant aux secrétaires : « Écrivez, dit-elle : Jehanne donne le royaume à Jésus-Christ» (2éme donation).
Et bientôt après :« Jésus rend le royaume à Charles ». (3ème donation)
