Pérou – Après avoir reçu les 135 000 signatures recueillies par la Conférence épiscopale péruvienne (CEP) pour la défense des cours de religion, le gouvernement du Pérou a annoncé que l’enseignement de la religion catholique resterait maintenu dans les écoles du pays.
A la suite du Séminaire international de l’enseignement catholique, qui s’est tenu le 7 novembre, le ministre de l’Éducation du Pérou, Jaime Saavedra, a déclaré que les cours de religion dans les écoles du pays allaient se poursuivre. « C’est quelque chose à quoi on ne va pas toucher. C’est quelque chose qui n’est pas remis en question« , a-t-il dit. Le ministre Saavedra a rappelé que la Constitution du Pérou, dans son article 50, stipule que «dans un régime d’indépendance et d’autonomie, l’État reconnaît l’Église catholique comme importante référence historique, culturelle et morale du Pérou, et lui prête sa collaboration« .
