C’est le comble pour un service secret : plus un jour ne passe sans que l’on ne parle de la NSA, l’agence nationale de sécurité des Etats-Unis.
Selon l’hebdomadaire italien Transalpha, la NSA a mis le Pape François sur écoute. Le plus surprenant, c’est que le Pape fut mis sur écoute par les services de renseignements américains alors qu’il n’était encore que Cardinal. Selon des documents rendus publics par WikiLeaks, c’est depuis 2005 que le futur Pape François fut mis sous surveillance !
Durant le Conclave, la Domus Internationalis Paolo VI, l’hôtel romain où logeait le Cardinal Bergoglio, faisait l’objet d’une attention particulière des services secrets américains.
Selon Panorama, un autre média italien, une cellule de la NSA serait par ailleurs installée dans une annexe de l’ambassade des Etats-Unis à Rome, située Via Sallustiana, permettant l’écoute des conversations téléphoniques et la lecture des e-mails même cryptés.
Sans parler de la CIA également très implantée à Rome.
Ernst von Freyberg, le nouveau président d’IOR, la banque du Vatican, serait également sur écoute.
Quatre catégories d’informations retiendraient l’attention de la NSA :
– Les intentions de la hiérarchie vaticane ;
– Le système financier du Vatican ;
– Les objectifs de politique étrangère du Vatican ;
– Les dossiers relatifs aux droits de l’homme.
