Les autorités autrichiennes ont décidé de raser au sol la maison natale de Hitler à Braunau am Inn afin d’éviter des « pèlerinages nostalgiques ».
C’est le ministère de l’Intérieur de l’Autriche, qui avait déjà approuvé l’expropriation, qui a annoncé cette nouvelle. Depuis longtemps le sujet était sur la table afin de trouver la meilleure option concernant l’édifice. Les politiques autrichiens étaient sensiblement sur la même longueur d’ondes. Norbet Hofer, leader de la droite populiste locale, avait dit récemment être favorable à la démolition plutôt que d’en faire un musée.
Depuis 2011 la maison est vide et a été l’objet d’une longue procédure judiciaire entre Gerlinde Pommer, la propriétaire légitime, et les autorités autrichiennes. Au cours des ans, cette maison a été un centre pour handicapés, une banque et un institut technique.
Dans quelque temps, elle ne sera plus.
