La Ligue du Nord a obtenu 6,2 % des voix aux élections européennes, soit un recul par rapport à 2009. Mais le parti se classe quatrième et fait mieux que les prédictions des sondages. La ligue du Nord reconduit six députés au parlement européen. Six députés qui comptent former un groupe avec le Front National de Marine Le Pen. D’ailleurs, durant la campagne, les liens entre ces deux partis ont été clairement affichés.
De façon inattendue, la Ligue du Nord a remporté un député dans le centre de l’Italie. C’est Mario Borghezio, député européen sortant du Piémont qui avait été désigné candidat dans le centre de l’Italie avec le soutien du mouvement nationaliste Casapound. Mario Borghezio est le député européen italien le plus connu parmi le public de droite nationale en France et en Belgique. Ce pourfendeur de l’immigration a su entretenir des liens avec tous les clans. On peut le voir aussi bien aux côtés des Le Pen et de Bruno Gollnisch que chez les Identitaires. Et en Belgique, il s’est montré au Vlaams Belang comme chez Belgique & Chrétienté. Mario Borghezio ne manque d’ailleurs pas une occasion de sortir le drapeau blanc frappé du sacré-cœur bien connu des militants de Civitas.
