Le bombardement de ce navire a eu lieu ce 10 avril 2015 au large du port de Tobrouk en Libye causant la mort d’un marin et blessant plusieurs membres de l’équipage.
Selon les autorités libyennes reconnues par la communauté internationale, le navire qui rentrait d’Espagne avait été sommé à plusieurs reprises de rebrousser chemin par l’armée de l’air, mais il n’avait pas obtempéré. Lorsqu’il s’est approché de Derna, il a été frappé par une série de bombardements aériens.
Le ministère turc des Affaires étrangères a condamné cette attaque par le biais d’un communiqué : « Nous condamnons fermement cette attaque inqualifiable menée contre un navire civil qui se trouvait dans les eaux internationales »
Cet incident illustre les tensions entre Ankara et le gouvernement libyen dirigé par Abdallah al-Theni qui accuse régulièrement les autorités turques de soutenir les milices terroristes qui sont basées à Tripoli avec un gouvernement parallèle.
Notons que deux gouvernements se disputent la Libye, dont l’un est basé à Tripoli, la capitale, dirigé par les milices islamistes, et l’autre à Tobrouk dans l’est du pays non loin de la frontière égyptienne.
