L’Institut des cultures d’islam (ICI), « établissement culturel de la ville de Paris », a inauguré officiellement, ce jeudi 28 novembre, le premier bâtiment faisant partie de son projet architectural global qui devrait être terminé en 2015.
Au cœur de la Goutte-d’Or (Paris 18e), ce bâtiment de 3 étages, situé au 56 rue Stephenson, ambitionne de devenir le cœur de ce quartier populaire parmi les plus cosmopolites et multi-ethniques de Paris. D’une surface de 1 400 m², cet immeuble comprend un hall d’exposition au rez-de-chaussée, un espace d’expositions et d’enseignements au 2e étage, un pôle administratif au 3e étage. Dans deux ans, le sous-sol devrait également accueillir un hammam sur 277 m², avec des horaires séparés hommes ou femmes selon les jours. Bien entendu, il y a également au sein de cet Institut une salle de prière située au 1er étage, d’une surface de 296 m². Cette salle de prières est la propriété de la « Société des habous et des lieux saints de l’islam affiliée à la Grande Mosquée de Paris » qui y a investi 2,2 millions d’euros. Le coût total du nouveau site de l’Institut des cultures d’islam s’élève à 13,5 millions d’euros. Il faudra revenir à ce sujet sur la part d’argent du contribuable injecté dans ce projet via différentes subventions.
En 2015, un second bâtiment ICI-Barbès devrait ouvrir ses portes au 6, rue des Poissonniers avec un salon de thé et un auditorium pouvant accueillir des spectacles et des projections cinématographiques.
Toutes ces transformations sont une étape de plus dans l’islamisation de ce quartier de la Goutte-d’Or situé à l’est de la butte Montmartre, avec le Sacré-Cœur en arrière-plan. Il est bien loin, le temps où y vivaient les « titis » parisiens et où y coulait le vin blanc issu des vignes du quartier et servi accompagné de saucisson. Depuis quelques années, ce quartier était avant tout devenu célèbre pour ses prières de rues aux alentours de la mosquée.
