La Grande Loge unie d’Angleterre (GLUA), fondée en 1717 et réservée aux hommes, a publié une nouvelle notification sur les changements de sexe, qui stipule : “Un franc-maçon qui, après son initiation, cesse d’être un homme ne cesse pas d’être un franc-maçon.”
Un individu transgenre, à l’apparence féminine, pourra donc continuer à fréquenter sa loge maçonnique.
Par ailleurs, une femme transgenre prenant l’apparence d’un homme pourra également devenir franc-maçon.
La GLUA, qui revendique plus de 200.000 membres, dit prendre ainsi en compte les changements intervenus dans la société et exhorte ses membres à montrer plus de bienveillance et de tolérance envers les personnes transgenres.
