Chine – En Handan, la police et le Bureau des affaires religieuses ont interdit aux fidèles du diocèse de se réunir pour prier à l’appel de l’évêque, en réparation d’une profanation de l’Eucharistie.
Les forces de police de cette ville ont déclaré que le diocèse n’avait pas la permission de rassembler les fidèles provenant de différents districts. Le village où a eu lieu la profanation a été encerclé par la police afin d’interdire l’accès pour la cérémonie religieuse.
Certains prêtres sont encore sous surveillance, et ont été intimidés pour qu’ils ne quittent pas leur domicile. L’évêque, Mgr Stefano Yang Xiangtai, a été contraint d’annuler la cérémonie religieuse, considérée comme «illégale» par le Bureau des affaires religieuses.
Le 27 mai, les fidèles de Xiao Di Ba avaient découvert le tabernacle de l’église détruit et les hosties jetées à terre à l’extérieur de l’église.
Le diocèse avait invité à une neuvaine de prière et de pénitence avec adoration eucharistique pour manifester le respect du saint-sacrement et réparer cette profanation. Mais Mgr Yang a été contraint d’annuler les rassemblements de prières et a dû demander aux fidèles de prier et de faire pénitence en privé à la maison.
La proximité avec la date du 4 juin (le jour anniversaire du massacre de Tienanmen) est chaque année synonyme pour la police de nervosité. Et les catholiques chinois en font fréquemment les frais.
